In the dynamic world of cryptocurrencies, it’s crucial to stay informed about the latest innovations and trends that could redefine the financial landscape. According to a recent Nansen study, several areas are emerging with incredible potential. From the new wave of NFTFi to the tokenization of Real-World Assets, here’s an overview of the six key trends not to be missed for 2024 and beyond. DeFi Summer: An Inspiring MemoryThe “DeFi Summer” of 2020 catapulted decentralized finance to the top of the blockchain ecosystem, laying the foundation for numerous innovations. While DeFi continues to grow and evolve, others will soon target your investments. Among these new trends, Nansen recently explored innovative concepts that could influence the next generation of financial products. NFTfi: When DeFi and NFTs Collide NFTs were the star of the previous bull market, captivating investors worldwide. However, their popularity has recently slowed. Nansen identifies a potential comeback for NFTs through convergence with DeFi, thus forming what they call NFTFi. This allows NFTs to be used as collateral to obtain cryptocurrency loans, opening up innovative ways to leverage these digital assets. However, without mechanisms to generate intrinsic returns, some NFTs may struggle to justify their value beyond their social appeal, thus limiting the growth of this ecosystem. Real-World Assets (RWA): The Attraction of Real Assets The tokenization of Real-World Assets, or RWA, is positioning itself as one of the most promising trends in the cryptocurrency space. This mechanism involves transforming physical assets – such as real estate, commodities, or bonds – into tokens on a blockchain.According to Nansen, this practice could attract traditional investors to decentralized finance, especially with the promise of annualized returns that can range from 5% to 20%. It could also offer a way to escape the usual volatility of cryptocurrencies.

NodeFi: A Financing Infrastructure

The NodeFi sector has burst onto the scene, introducing a new way to raise funds for blockchain projects. The concept is based on the tokenization of node operating licenses, often in the form of NFTs. Node operators can then recoup their investments through the generated rewards. While this offers the potential for high returns, Nansen warns of the risks associated with projects’ dependence on market perception and the volatility of the associated tokens. DePIN: Decentralized Physical Networks Decentralized physical networks, or DePINs, are booming. This development aims to decentralize the management of physical infrastructure through cryptocurrencies. Take the example of projects like Helium, which are attempting to create networks for the Internet of Things (IoT). The use of cryptocurrencies would allow users to actively participate in the networks while being rewarded in the form of tokens. With returns estimated at between 30 and 100%, the DePIN sector could represent a significant investment opportunity. The Road Ahead: Analysis and Outlook Nansen concludes his study with a clear and concise table summarizing each of these trends, taking into account various criteria such as growth potential, return potential, and asset volatility. This analysis allows for a better understanding of investment areas and anticipation of market movements, particularly with a view to a potential bull run.
